Knob Noster is located on U.S. Highway 50, just 60 miles east of Kansas City. A short distance northeast of town there are two hills, called knobs, which have become a landmark for the community.

The City of Knob Noster is a small, rural, community with an estimated population of 2,902 for 2020, located on the well-traveled U.S. Highway 50, and is home to the Whiteman Air Force Base.
