Fire Depart­ment

"Being There" means a lot of different things to different people, but to the members of the Knob Noster Fire Department it means "Being There" for the citizens of Knob Noster in an emergency.

Fire Depart­ment Services

Services that the Fire Department provides to the local community include:

  • emergency medical services
  • fire protection
  • fire prevention
  • hazmat
  • rescue services

Emer­gency Med­ical & First Respon­der Program

The Department has several personnel that are certified through the State of Missouri as Emergency Medical Technicians as well as everyone in the department being certified in CPR. The Department runs a First-Responder program in conjunction with the Johnson County Ambulance District.

Area Cov­er­age

The Knob Noster Fire Department covers a community of approximately 6 square miles and a population of approximately 2,902 citizens. The Department operates 2 Class A Engines, 1 Medical Response Vehicle, and 1 Natural Cover Fire Fighting Vehicle.

Depart­ment History

Department Beginnings
The Knob Noster Fire Department has come a long way since organized in 1957. Starting out with little or no equipment, the forefathers of the department strived to provide Fire Protection for the citizens of the community.

New Department Home
In 2003, the Fire Department moved into its new home, a building remodeled to accommodate the Fire Department located at 107 East South Railroad Street.

The Department Today
Today, the Knob Noster Fire Department has a membership of 15 men and women. These individuals come from all walks of life; some are active-duty military personnel stationed at Whiteman Air Force Base combined with members of the community such as farmers, construction workers, clerks, dispatchers, and factory workers. A large portion of KNFD’s membership is retired military who decided to call our community their home.
