Shelter Locations
1. Knob Noster Police Department - 201 N State Street -
When Tornado warnings are activated in or around the the area. The Shelter will be open at the Knob Noster Police Department. To access the shelter, enter the open garage door, check in at the table.
2. Knob Noster High School - 504 S Washington-
During a Tornado warning, the High School will be open. To access the shelter, enter the gym doors and check in at the table.
3. Knob Noster First Baptist Church - 110 E. McPherson -
When Tornado's are in the area, the First Baptist Church will be open. To access the shelter, enter (north parking Lot) the white door on the back side of the First Baptist Church.
Knob Noster can warn the public of impending weather hazards by several different methods. One method is the Outdoor Storm Warning System. There are a series of outdoor weather warning systems that will sound an alert that can be heard in most areas of the City. As an added benefit, the sirens can be heard indoors but, do not depend on hearing them as another warning system would work better indoors. Another method would be Facebook - Knob Noster Police -
Shelter Tips
- Do not take pets to shelters
- Bring a flashlight, any required medication, and essential items.
- Leave stereos and TV sets at home.
- Stay away from shelter windows.
- Walk carefully inside the shelter.
- Follow instructions you receive when in the shelter.
- Assist others with their needs if you can.
- Show respect to other occupants in the shelter.
- Don't leave the shelter without checking with your hosts.
